Sculpted hand pipe
Abyss Claw
A closed fist of cobalt and bone, ridged down one side like something that grew rather than something that was made.
The surface came from a technique the studio keeps returning to: white frit dropped into deep blue while the glass is still moving, then worked until the two stop fighting each other. No two runs settle the same way. This one froze mid-argument.
The spurs along the spine are pulled by hand, one at a time, each one a separate reheat. They are the reason the piece takes an afternoon rather than an hour.
